9 YouTube Covers That Are Almost Better Than The Original
YouTube is a magical place full of instruction videos, parodies and musical covers (and a whole bunch of other weird stuff we’re not allowed to talk about).
But my favourite part is admittedly the musical section. I’m not big on the covers that are just the same as the original but with someone else, just less famous, singing over the top - but I am a big fan of muscial YouTubers who take a song and completely make it their own.
And nail it, too.
Here are eight of YouTube covers that have completely changed from the original and managed to make it sound hot:
1. ‘Flex’ by Rich Homie Quan got a remake from the angelic voice of William Singe
2. Ebony Day covers ‘Somebody Else‘ by The 1975
2. ‘One Dance’ (Drake) as covered by Gabe Bondoc.
3. MNEK’s version of Vanessa Carlton’s ‘A Thousand Miles’
4. He’s not a YouTuber, but we have to include Ed Sheeran’s remake of Christina Aguilera’s ‘Dirrty’ from 2002. Those were the days.
5. This jazz version of Radiohead’s ‘Creep‘ has been watched over 21 million times.
6. Twisted Measure will give you goosebumps with this completely a cappella cover of Sia’s ‘Chandelier‘.
7. Five Guys, One Piano (not porn) covered One Direction’s ‘What Makes You Beautiful’
8. A band called ‘The Waffle Stompers’ do this thing where six of them play one Ukelele
9. And last but not least, of course we have to include Christina Grimmmie - the YouTuber who was sadly shot and killed earlier this year during a meet and greet. Here is her cover of Sia’s ‘Elastic Heart‘
