Gigi Gorgeous Claims She Was Detained At Dubai Airport For Being Transgender
Youtuber Gigi Gorgeous shot to fame when she documented her transition from male to female on her YouTube channel.
Way back when I first started watching her YouTube videos, she went by the name of ‘Gregory’ and looked pretty different to how she does now.
Alongside typical beauty guru videos about smokey eyes and hair styling she documented her experiences with plastic surgery and the other parts of the transition, and has amassed over 2.3 Million subscribers in her time on the platform.
She’s now amidst controversy surrounding entrance to the country of Dubai. She penned an angry post on Instagram after she was allegedly detained for 5 hours and denied entry to the country.
The 24-year-old Canadian model and actress, and former Diving national champion, claims she was stopped at the immigration and visas section and kept there for quite some time.
She told TMZ that the immigration officer told her “I was told you are transgender. You cannot come into the country.”
Gigi claims that her passport is fully updated to reflect herself post-transition and that her name is listed as “Gigi Loren”, but the airport claim otherwise.

It’s worth noting that Dubai is an Islamic city which is known for its strict rules regarding homosexuality, public displays of affection and public drinking. Legally, the “imitation of women by men” is forbidden, and violators face up to a year in jail.
After her experience at the airport, she posted a picture to Instagram of her and her partner with the caption:
“After being detained and held at the Dubai airport for over 5 hours, this was the moment my baby came to rescue me. Yesterday was one of the scariest moments of my entire life and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. How you can be denied entry somewhere just because of who you are is seriously disgusting and also very scary. This further proves the need for CHANGE. I am now on my way to somewhere much more accepting. Safe and sound and happy. I love you guys?”
