People Are Abusing The Wrong Chris Evans About Top Gear On Twitter
There are two Chris Evans in the world. OK, that’s obviously seriously short-sighted, but let’s just believe that for the sake of this story.
One Chris Evans (let’s call him Chris 1, for the duration of the article) is English, sports a wild mane of ginger hair and was once married to Billie Piper. The other (Chris 2) is American, plays Captain America in the Marvel movies and despite once dating Jessica Biel has never been married to a nineties pop star. There really are no similarities here, other than the fact that these two scallywags happen to share the same name.
But despite that, Twitter users have mistakenly been tweeting their annoyance at Chris 1 (for taking Top Gear off the hands of punchy mcpunch face Jeremy Clarkson and gang) to Chris 2. Now I’m not saying it’s OK that Chris 1 is getting all the flack, he’s just a man trying to make a show about cars with another man from Friends, but Chris 2 really hasn’t got anything to do with it.
Despite that, he’s been getting messages like this:
Chris Evans what a shouty boring muppet pic.twitter.com/x4TaMM3PB5

Give #TopGear time. Chemistry will develop, and hopefully a producer will convince @ChrisEvans to stop shouting.
Hopefully.

Whilst filming #topgear if @chrisevans requests steak, please offer him a light salad, stick out your chin and take one for England.

Hi @ChrisEvans @TopGear . You might have had 4.4M viewers but @BBCCountryfile had twice as many. And they had Boris and David on 😉

Chris 1 has been merrily defending himself with stats from the show:
Top Gear audience grew throughout the hour. FACT. Won its slot. FACT. Still number one on i Player. FACT. These are THE FACTS folks.

More bad news for the Top Gear haters: consolidated figures for the first episode of the new series have now past 5.6 million and counting.

Chris 2 is yet to comment. But then again, he might not even know what Top Gear is. Or care…
Do you rate Chris and Matt as the new Top Gear presenters? Let us know in the comments.
