Man Buns Are Making Men Go Bald

Men with man buns are low hanging meat for the internet’s mocking vultures. Not that they are bothered, they are hipsters who are probably using the next version of the internet anyway, and thus these wild insults are falling on death ears, or unseeing eyes.

Enough of our ludicrous lies and on to the very, very, very serious matter at hand. Man buns are causing baldness.

Traction alopecia, they’re the two words that are striking fear into trendsetters up and down the land. It means hair loss caused by a pulling force being applied to the hair. Those that live by the no pain, no gain motto just learnt that it doesn’t apply to ponytails.

Here we have a man, complete with bun, contemplating this revelation.

Dermatologist Sabra Sullivan told Mic.

“It’s really, really common. I see it probably once or twice a week. They’re putting traction on the hair follicles that the hair is not really meant to take. Traction alopecia in men is becoming more common.”

Fear not, man bun comrades, there is a stunningly simple way to avoid this treacherous outcome. Just ease up on the old pulling.

“There are lots of men who wear man buns and don’t get traction alopecia. The idea is not to pull so tight. You don’t want to have to go for hair transplants later.”

There we have it. Problem solved.
