Trailer For Documentary “Rats” Suggests It Might Be The Scariest Film Of 2016

If you’re of a sensitive nature, then this documentary probably isn’t going to be for you… Made by Morgan Spurlock (the fellow who brought us Supersize Me), it looks at rat infestations in cities around the world, and our increasingly failing efforts to stop them.

It looks informative, sure. I for one had no idea that rats could (easily) swim up the sewers and emerge from your toilet, or that they’re evolving ten times faster than humans, or that a great many of them are impervious to poison nowadays.

Being described as a “modern day horror” (that’s no doubt worse because it’s not the product of someone’s macabre imagination - it’s actually true), Rats premiered to rave reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival, and will be hitting UK screens later this year.

Seriously though, after watching this trailer, will you have the guts to watch it?

Discussing his decision to make the film so unsettling, Spurlock told Shortlist:

“With Rats, I said, ‘what if we made a documentary as creepy, as scary, as weird, as dark, as uncomfortable as a typical horror film?'”

Well, while we’re sure that a lot of people will be thrilled that he went for it, what with its controversial scenes of cruel “rat-hunting”, this documentary isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea.

If you’re brave enough, then Rats will air on the Discovery channel on the 22nd October.
