The Spice Girls Are Holding Open Auditions For Their World Reunion Tour
Yeah, tell me what you want, what you really, really want. I’ll tell you what I want, what I really, really want. To become the newest member of the Spice Girls, that’s what, because Girl Power etc.
Luckily for me, there might be an end to this horrid internal monologue I’ve been battling with since 1997 because the remaining members of the Spice Girls are apparently on the hunt for two spicy girls to fill the spots left by Mel C and Victoria Beckham. Traitors.
Ahead of their reunion tour - which celebrates twenty one years since the release of Wannabe (how’s that for a fact to make you feel ancient) - Ginger, Scary and Baby are said to have approached the BBC to pitch a “spicy search show.” According to the IB Times, the show will kick off in April, and after five nights of auditions and heats it’ll culminate in a live finale where the remaining contestants will compete on stage with the girls themselves.
I knew there was a reason I’ve been hoarding that Union Jack jumpsuit all these years. Back in July, the Geri, Emma and Mel B released a video strongly implying that they were coming back as a threesome, re-branding themselves to the catchy sounding GEM, and that an anniversary gig would be on the cards in Hyde Park in 2017.
Speaking to James Corden, Mel B said they were only reuniting as a threesome “because the other two bitches didn’t want to do it.” - that’s my girl - before adding:
“Let me correct that, my other two lovely ladies. Victoria is busy with her fashion range and Mel is recording a solo album, so they politely declined — but they gave us their blessing. We’re Girl Power, we support each other, so us three went, ‘OK then, let’s just us three do it’… “I don’t think we could ever replace Sporty or Posh but I’d like to invite other people up to sing with us.”
Would you do anything 2 become 1 of the Spice Girls? It can’t be that tough? Check out the girl’s first audition tape:
