The Powerful Message Behind The Video For Sia’s New Song ‘The Greatest’
On the 24th of June, just weeks after the horrific Orlando shooting, Sia dedicated her performance of Titanium to the 49 victims - but not far into her performance she burst into tears.
Her heartbreaking tribute to the victims resonated with people all over the world.
Sia is an avid supporter of LGBT rights and has been outspoken in her support for a long time. In 2013 she donated all of the money she received for a collaboration with Eminem to the LA Gay & Lesbian Center, and she came out at bisexual in 2008.
She released a surprise new single, featuring Kendrick Lamar, called ‘The Greatest’ - with a video that pays tribute to the victims of the Pulse shooting. As ever, her choice of music video packs on hell of an emotional punch, starring her well-know little sidekick Maddie Ziegler and allegedly 49 young dancers to represent the victims of the attack.

It starts in the same dingy apartment in which the video for ‘Chandelier’ was released, and then transitions into a set reminiscent of the nightclub. The children can be seen running from something, similar to eye witness accounts of the chaos at the Pulse nightclub, and there are bullet holes on the walls.
Not to mention, Maddie cries ‘rainbow tears’ at the beginning of the video, and very real ones at the end.
