The Great British Bakers Rally To Support Rav After He Suffers Racist Abuse
Rav Bansal took to Twitter yesterday to reveal that, since making his debut on this yearโs Great British Bake Off, he has been subject to some racist abuse.
Tweeting that he was approached and asked, “are you the p*ki on the not so British bake off”, he wrote “really, in 2016?”.
So today I was asked 'are you the p*ki on the not so British bake off?' Really, in 2016? ๐

In response to this, 28-year-old Rav quickly received messages of support from other Bake Off contestants who had themselves suffered abuse as a result of being on the show:
@RavSBansal just keep your head high and be proud. I got loads of homophobic abuse during and after GBBO. Best to ignore the evil cretins.

@RavSBansal oh Rav, I still get it. Itโs an unfortunate part of being on Bake Off.
I throw chapattis at them now.โ Ali Imdad (@AliImdadBakes) 1 September 2016
Bake Off contestants from this year have also rallied to support Rav:
@bakedbybenji @RavSBansal what's happening?

…As have Bake Off contestants from previous years:
@RavSBansal bloody hell Rav! Some people are just poison.
โ Richard Burr (@RichardPBurr) 1 September 2016
@RavSBansal thatโs awful! ๐
โ Martha Collison (@marthacollison) 1 September 2016
@RavSBansal You are a Great BRITISH baker. Just like many of us before on #GBBO. Nuff said to those ignorant to think otherwise.

Rav has since tweeted to thank not just the bakers, but also the members of the public who rallied to support him.
Thank you for all the kind messages, I am fine, honestly ๐ It's Friday and the weekend is in touching distance, all good!! #PositiveVibes
