Student Responds To Brock Turner With Powerful Photo Series About Sexual Assault
Warning: the photos in this article are distressing, and may be upsetting to some readers.
A New York college student has created a powerful photo series in response to Brock Turner’s early release from an already shockingly short prison sentence.
With It Happened, 20-year-old Yana Mazurkevich showed freeze frames of a number of victims - both men and women - alongside quotes about sexual assault.
As she told Buzzfeed News:
“The inspiration behind the series was an accumulation of personal experiences and experiences that my friends have been through.
There comes a point when it just pisses you off and you want to do something about it.”

This is actually the second photo series that Yana has produced in response to Brock. Her first - Dear Brock Turner - featured women holding up signs with quotes.
It was covered by The New York Times.
