Samsung To Completely Recall Latest Phone Because It Keeps Exploding
When your phone contract ends and you’re due for an upgrade, a few factors run through your head when you decide what model you’re going to go for next. Do I want the same phone as basically everyone else? Does my phone really need to be waterproof? Just because someone’s taking pictures in East-Asia in the adverts, that doesn’t mean I’m cultured for owning it, right? Does it explode apropos of nothing?
All important.
Sadly, if you opted for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, the latter question applies to you… they keep exploding. The phone was released two weeks ago and was said to rival the yet-to-be-released iPhone 7.
Newspapers in South Korea, where the phone is readily available, say that the problem lies in the battery as they’ve been known to explode while on charge. The Guardian reports that this only occurs in 0.01% of Galaxy Not 7’s and there have been no documented injuries as of yet but, you know… still.
Annoyingly for you if you either have one or want one, Samsung are recalling all of the models and pulling shipments so they can apply further quality control… probably a good thing, to be honest.
A Samsung representative told the Independent that they are currently liaising with partners so they can triangulate on the issue. The issue of exploding phones. Phones that explode.
It’s supposed to be a properly good phone and, while some people are saying that this will hit Samsung hard, I don’t think it will. Remember when everyone’s iPhone’s where bending to pieces in their pockets and people were saying it would be the end of Apple… it wasn’t.
