Playboy Model Likely To Be Prosecuted After Body Shaming Pensioner At The Gym
A couple of months ago, Playboy model Dani Mathers attracted almost universal outrage for taking a picture of a naked pensioner at the gym, and sending it to her thousands of Snapchat followers.
With the caption, “If I can’t unsee this then you can’t either”, she also sent a photo of herself looking horrified.
While Dani apologised for posting the picture - explaining that she had meant to send it to a friend, not to her 75,000 followers - but people were still (understandably) very angry. As one woman put it, “it’s people like you that make others feel uneasy about changing openly in locker rooms. Appalling.”
LA Fitness Gym also put out a statement, explaining that they had banned Dani for “egregiously violating a member’s right of privacy by taking a pic of her while naked in the shower”.
Dani lost a radio presenting gig as a result of the photo going viral, and now, she may face a consequence even more severe. The LAPD have successfully traced the woman pictured in the images, and they have confirmed that she wishes Dani to be prosecuted, and to “feel the full force of the law” for what she did to her.
They are therefore recommending that the 29-year-old “Playmate of the Year 2015” be prosecuted for “dissemination of private images”, which carries a sentence of up to six months.
Dani has hired Tom Mesereau - the lawyer who got Michael Jackson acquitted in his 2005 child molestation case - to defend her, and the LA City Attorney is currently deciding whether to prosecute the case.
TMZ reports that Dani’s 70-something-year-old victim is prepared to testify should the case go to court.
