Karl Pilkington Reveals He Once Almost Died Because Of Sex

So you’ve read the title and you’re probably all going to assume that this was at the hands of some of his weird and wonderful exploits when filming An Idiot Abroad or The Moaning Of Life but, guess what, you’d be wrong.

This story actually involves his girlfriend, Suzanne and, of course, his virility.

Whilst younger and holidaying in Tenerife, the couple found themselves, in the heat of the moment, enjoying each other’s company.

They were enjoying each other’s company so much, in fact, that they got so distracted and didn’t notice their hotel had gone up in flames. Promptly they heard a knock on the door and, when poking his head round the door to see who it was, Karl saw that it was a fireman evacuating the building.

“The banging is getting louder. I open the door, it’s a fireman. I just stick my head round and he’s going, ‘You’ll have to get out. The building is on fire’.

So I’m like, ‘In a minute’.

I had to wait a minute. I couldn’t get my pants on.“

The story has attracted plenty of attention after he brought it up in a recent interview. He obviously likes telling it as he has told it before. You can hear it straight from the horse’s mouth, if you like, by listening to the excerpt from his old XFM show when he spoke about the affair.
