Jurassic World Has Been Confirmed As Part One Of A Brand New Trilogy
Did you like Jurassic Park? Yeah (although it’s probably overrated). Did you like The Lost World? Eh. How about Jurassic Park 3?! Please stop. Alright alright but, hey, how about this? How would you feel about a bigger and more expensive Jurassic Park with the chubby guy from Parks and Recreation who isn’t chubby anymore..?
That’s basically what we were given and the general consensus was that Jurassic World was extremely, fantastically average. Fair to middling, really.
Well, assuming you liked the film more than me, you’ll be happy to know that the first Jurassic World film, which came out last year, has been confirmed as the first part of a trilogy - with its sequel being filmed early next year for a summer 2018 release.
J. A. Bayona, responsible for The Orphanage and A Monster Calls, will be at the reins of the next instalment as the director and he’s already spoken out enthusiastically about what can be:
“The whole ‘Jurassic World’ is a trilogy that Colin Trevorrow has envisioned. We’re writing the second chapter, and it’s very interesting where he’s leading the story. I grew up watching Steven Spielberg movies and I love those movies and the legacy, so it’s a question of being truthful to the legacy and at the same time, bringing new stuff that people will appreciate. We are still six months ahead of shooting, and so far, so good. It’s very exciting right now.“
Since he’s already fairly proficient in handling horror/monster films held in a pretty high regard, Bayona looks like he’s the right man for the job.
Plot wise, we don’t have a clue what’s going to happen but the script will be co-written with the Jurassic World director, Colin Trevorrow, who has previously hinted that he wanted to take the action away from the already established theme park.
“I feel like the audience has given us permission, to a certain extent, to take this to the next level — I don’t necessarily mean in scale. I feel very strongly that it’s not about more dinosaurs or bigger and better dinosaurs. It’s about using this as a starting point for a much larger story about our relationship with these animals, and with animals in general, and the dynamic created by bringing them back to life.“
I know it’s not technically Jurassic, but I’d like to see animals from the Cenozoic Era (I had to Google that) come into play. Like when the mammals started taking control after the extinction of the dinosaurs. There’s some pretty cool beasts from back then that could stir some pre-historic shit up.
BBCAlso the guys from Ice Age (before they made too many films).
This might also be the time that film producers decide they’re brave enough to stick feathers on dinosaurs just like scientific research is implying is what happened..?
deviantartHopefully this time there won’t be a bit where a raptor actually rides a T-Rex into battle and then, later on, knowingly nods to Chris Pratt as if to say “You did good, friend. But I’ve got my own battles to fight” before walking off into the horizon. Finger’s crossed.
Anyway, what do you think? Looking forward to the next dino-films? Let us know in the comments!
