I’m A Celebrity Just “Banned” All Reality TV Stars From Its Line-Up
ITV bosses have apparently made the decision to ban reality TV stars from their I’m a Celebrity line-up, excluding anyone who became famous for starring on, say, Geordie Shore, TOWIE, or Made in Chelsea.
For this year’s show, they’re apparently looking for more credible “cult favourite” personalities - politicians, actors, comedians and musicians.
This is partly due to the “fix” row that erupted last year, but reportedly mainly due to the fact that other contestants have complained that the reality TV stars have an unfair advantage - they’re used to having cameras documenting their every move.
In banning reality stars, I’m a Celebrity will also distinguish itself from other shows - Celebrity Big Brother is filled with people from reality TV, as is Ex on the Beach.
In the past few years, Spencer Matthews (albeit briefly), Ferne McCann, Vicky Pattinson and Gemma Collins have all appeared on the show, with Joey Essex, Hugo Taylor and Mark Wright also starring over the course of the 15 seasons.
Whether season 16 will be totally devoid of reality TV stars, or if the producers will let a couple in to keep things entertaining, remains to be seen.
I’m a Celebrity returns in November.
