Here’s Why Experts Reckon That There’s No Point In Buying The iPhone 7
The iPhone 7 was launched last night, and to be honest, people were a bit underwhelmed.
Aside from the decision to get rid of the headphone jack, most of the changes made by Apple seemed to be tweaks - a slightly better camera, more memory and a pressure sensitive home button - as opposed to proper upgrades.
Tech experts are therefore advising that Apple aficionados hold off on upgrading their phones, and wait for next year’s iPhone 8. As Jan Dawson, from Jackdaw Research, speculated:
“It looks like part of the reason they are keeping the design the same this year is there are bigger changes they are working on for next year.”
Analysts are already predicting that Apple may be working on an “all glass” model for 2017:
“If iPhone 7 still uses an aluminium casing in 2016 [which we now know they are] it will be the fifth year in a row that iPhone has done so, which means there is no longer a feeling of freshness to appeal to consumers.
Also, a lot of Apple’s (US) competitors are also adopting aluminium casings, which means iPhone no longer has a clear edge due to a lack of differentiation.
On expectations that iPhone shipments will decline in 2016, we believe Apple will be more strongly motivated to use non-aluminium casings in 2017 in a bid to enhance the competitiveness of iPhone by offering an all-new form-factor design.”
So basically, unless you upgrade your phone every year, it’s probably best to give the iPhone 7 a miss. It sounds like Apple are bringing out a futuristic glass phone next year (or at least something like that), and it would be a shame to be lumbered with the 7.
