Here’s Everything You Need To Know About The New iPhone 7

It’s finally happened. The iPhone 7 has been launched and, at last, people walking around without iPhone 5s’s saying “I’m just waiting for the 7 to come out” will stop complaining about their battery and phone speed.

But what does the iPhone 7 have that the last model, the iPhone 6s, doesn’t have? Well…

Although the 7 and the 6s (pluses included) look pretty much identical, there are a few pretty significant differences. Instead of your run of the mill home button, the new model has a pressure-sensitive one.

There’s also a better camera, a faster processor. A (much needed) improved battery and, proving the speculation right, no headphone jack. You know what that means, right? No jumping on the AUX. Sad times.

Its storage size starts at 32GB and it comes in more colours than the last model.

There will be wireless headphones but the iPhone packages will come with a headphone cable that fits into the Lightning port which means, if both your phone and wireless headphones are low on battery (which is entirely likely) you’ll have to choose between charging and listening to music quietly.

You will be able to buy something from Apple that lets you put your normal headphones in the Lightning Port but that’s not the point.

Whilst the normal iPhone 7 has an improved camera, the bigger plus model has a fancy dual lens. This will improve the zooming capabilities vastly with its two 12MP cameras – one of which is a wide angle lens with the other being a telephoto lens that can zoom 2X in high quality without the use of software. It can now zoom 10X with optical and soft zoom.

Both phones will be able to film in 4k. The front-facing camera also got an upgrade from 5MP to 7MP. Cool.

Space Grey as a colour for the iPhone has been retired and, instead, replaced by two new shades of black – one matte and one glossy. However if you want the glossy black, you’ll have to fork out more cash for the 128GB or 256GB model…

The 7 is powered by Apple A10 Fusion which has a 64-bit 4 core CPU – this is forty percent faster than the current A9 in the 6s and double the speed of A8.

It’s also water-resistant with a rating of IPX67. This means it can withstand immersion in up to 1 metre of water for 30 minutes.

The new home button has a pressure-sensitive vibration-based taptic feedback system… basically it vibrates when you touch it – much like with the current MacBook laptops.

You can start ordering on 9th September with shipping starting on the 16th and now we get to the prices. As usual, you will have to re-mortgage your house to afford an iPhone with the 32GB iPhone 7 costing £599 and the 256GB iPhone 7s setting you back £919…

So there you have it. Most of the stuff you need to know… let’s hope that the other phone brands step their game up because I’m seriously put off by this headphone business.
