Harry Potter’s Privet Drive House Is Up For Sale For A Hefty Price

I once knew a guy who spent £600 on a Nimbus 2000 broomstick. It didn’t fly, it didn’t hover, I don’t think you could even use it as an actual broom. Totally useless.

I thought that was the height of fan decadence but, now, Harry Potter fans can rejoice in the fact that they can live in the very same house that Harry, himself, absolutely wanted to be as far away from as possible.

The home in Picket Post Close, Martins Heron, more commonly know as 4 Privet Drive, is up for sale for a fairly generous £475,000.

I do wonder whether it should actually be worth that much or if the price has been bumped up purely because of Harry Potter - like could you buy the house next door for £256,000? I’m no estate agent.

The thing is, though, the house was only ever in one film, The Philosopher’s Stone - after that, it was constantly recreated in a studio so, you know, that kind of detracts from the magic a bit.

Not once does it mention that it’s the house that HARRY POTTER grew up in on the Zoopla page! What a wasted opportunity…

I love the idea of some eccentric American billionaire buying the house because they’re such a fan and then, after a day or so of staying there, they realise that they’re just wasting their time in a pretty uneventful road in Bracknell. That’s the real kicker, the house isn’t even in Surrey like it’s supposed to be, it’s in Berkshire!

So yeah, scrape together half a million pounds and you can live in the cupboard under the stairs if you really want…
