Dermot O’Leary Accidentally Revealed The Judges’ Categories Early

X-Factor host Dermot O’Leary has just accidentally revealed which judge has which category on this year’s show.

Speaking to Rylan Clark live on The Xtra Factor last night, Dermot explained that he was currently in Los Angeles, filming the judges’ houses.

He probably let slip more than he was intending to, saying:

“We’ve done Sharon’s house and The Overs, and then today I’m on the way to Simon’s place in Malibu and we’re gonna do the reveal of which three girls make it through.”

Rylan quickly made a joke about Dermot dropping some “unofficial spoilers”, but the veteran host of the show didn’t seem too fussed, saying “life is peppered with unofficial spoilers”.

So that’s Sharon Osbourne with the Overs, and Simon Cowell with the Girls, leaving the Groups, and the Boys for Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger.

We’d bet on Louis having the Groups, and Nicole having the Boys, but we’ll have to wait until after the Boot Camp to find out if we’re right (unless somebody lets it slip beforehand…).

This isn’t the first time that The X-Factor has been messed up this year: one of the auditionees tweeted that he was packing for a holiday with “the lads”, but didn’t know where he was going, prompting speculation that he had made it through the the judges’ houses, and there have been various “fix” scandals as well.

In bringing back old judges Sharon and Louis, Simon was no doubt trying to breathe some life into his show, but we can’t help but think that it might just be time to let it go…
