This Is Why You Should Cut Off Your Festival Wristbands Right Now
Bacteria are on everything, everyone knows that. Your mouth is full of them, so is your gut, but that’s okay because most of them are good.
But, that’s not always a good excuse. Especially when that piece of cloth you’ve had tied around your wrist since Reading 2010 could be carrying around the kind of bacteria that could seriously mess you up. Just think about all the times it has accidentally trailed into your food…
Australian radio station ‘Triple J’ decided to put festival bands to the test… literally. A listener sent in two of their nice and old festival wristbands to be tested, and one of them was harboring so much bacteria, it had even developed the bacteria that produces penicillin.
Dr. Nick, the nice scientist investigating the wristbands, encourages people who are fond of their wristbands to cut them off and keep them in a scrapbook. That way, you can avoid making yourself or other people ill. Great plan from you there, Nick.
That’s definitely gross. No one likes a festival bragger anyway, at least find a more subtle way to brag about your cool festival-going tendencies. Like with an overpriced t-shirt perhaps.
Alternatively, you could take the band off and disinfect it every so often, but even that is way too much effort and you will still be carrying around germ ridden cloth ribbon. Just ditch it, people.
