Cara Delevingne Slammed By Animal Rights Activists For Controversial “Anti-Bark” Collar
Suicide Squad actress Cara Delevingne has come under fire for her decision to fit her dog with a “pepper spray” anti-bark collar.
Leo - the husky crossbreed she adopted last year - was photographed wearing the collar in London, prompting animal rights activists to speak out against that particular method of training.
As a representative from The Dogs Trust told The Daily Mail:
“At the Dogs Trust we don’t recommend the use of any adverse technique or equipment for any kind of behaviour issue.
You have to find out the cause of the dog’s behaviour rather than punish it.”
The “pepper spray” collar sprays citronella into the dog’s face every time it barks, theoretically dissuading it from making noise.
They have become a popular alternative to electric shock collars (which are banned in many countries), but many argue that they are still inhumane - dogs find citronella highly unpleasant - and that such a natural thing as barking shouldn’t be impeded.
