Here’s What We Know About Stranger Things’ Second Season
Anyone thirsty for more Stranger Things will be thrilled to hear that it’s been picked up for (at least) another season.
Yes, Netflix know a hit when they see one, and this short, sci-fi mystery has been one hell of a surprise hit. It wasn’t highly anticipated, it’s not like anybody was waiting up at midnight for it to be released, but somehow, slowly, it’s become huge.
Probably because it’s so good. The cast are great, the story-telling is slick and it’s scary in all the right places. Creators Matt and Ross Duffer have done themselves proud, and it’s no surprise that they’ve been rewarded with the chance to continue their good work.
Season two, they’ve revealed, will be “not a second season as much as a sequel”, and will deal with the “dangling threads” not quite wrapped up in season one.
(Quick warning in case you haven’t finished season one, you’re about to encounter some mild spoilers…)
Speaking to Variety, Ross revealed that the “unexplored world” of the “Upside Down” (the other dimension) would probably be the focus of season two:
“There’s a lot there we don’t know or understand. Even with ‘The Upside Down,’ we have a 30-page document that is pretty intricate in terms of what it all means, and where this monster actually came from, and why aren’t there more monsters — we have all this stuff that we just didn’t have time for, or we didn’t feel like we needed to get into in season one, because of the main tension of Will.
We have that whole other world that we haven’t fully explored in this season, and that was very purposeful.”
He also confirmed, however, that he and his brother Matt would want the story to continue to come from the perspective of season one’s central characters.
