Crazy ‘Force Awakens’ Fan Theory May Solve The Mystery Of Rey’s Origin

There has been a lot of lineage-based speculation about Rey since Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released, with many people predicting Luke Skywalker as her dad. But let’s be honest here guys, that would be far too obvious.

We all know what the internet is like, and over the past few months every character from Obi Wan Kenobi to Han Solo has been suggested to be her father - but perhaps the real question we should have been asking was who her grandfather is.

Well, we didn’t have to because the superfans got their first and have already put together quite a convincing theory as to who it could be.

This theory, originally spawned on Medium, was so convincing that YouTube user Vincent Vendetta was inspired to creak it down for fans in a video.

It points to Emporer Palpatine as Rey’s grandfather — revealing the truth of her Force-wielding powers. Dun dun duuuuuuuun.

Admittedly, it compliments the first trilogy, would make a badass plot twist and would be in line with making the whole thing a great saga so I’m quite tempted to half believe this one.
