Here’s How To Do That Whistle Thing With Your Fingers
In a helpful instructable posted to Imgur, a handy internet person is teaching us all how to master that complicated looking finger whistling thing that we’ve all dreamed of being able to do since we were little.
… Or is that just me?
Here goes:
Extend your middle and index fingers on both hands, keeping them together, while your thumbs hold down your ring and pinky fingers.
Put your two middle fingers together, forming an ‘A’ shape.
Lip placement here is vital. Tuck your lips back over your teeth (as if you’re pretending to be an old person) and make sure your pearly whites are completely covered.
Place the tip of your fingers underneath your tongue at the tip, and push it back with your fingers. You’re basically folding the first 1/4 of your tongue back on itself.
Have a go at blowing out of your mouth, if you can feel air coming out of the sides of your mouth - close your mouth tighter around your fingers and make sure your tongue doesn’t make an appearance at the blow hole.
You probably won’t get a sound right off the bat, keep adjusting your finger placement, angles and levels of lip tuckage until, you know, noise happens.
You’ll know when you’re getting close to your whistle because you’ll get a noise like you’re blowing a beer bottle, so start blowing more forcefully until you get that classic whistle.
And in case that made no sense to you, or you’re unable to scroll when both or your hands are in your mouth, here’s a video on how to do it too:
