Finding Dory Paid Tribute To The Original Voice Of Nemo Perfectly
Even though Finding Dory is set one year after the crazy events of Finding Nemo, it comes out a full 13 years later in reality. That’s a lot of time.
What with Nemo being a child, he needs to sound like a child - that’s science. So what happens when you cast a child in 2003 to play a child and, in 2016, he’s no longer a child? That’s right, you’re left with a 22-year-old trying to put on a high-pitched voice. That’s never going to work.
So Disney had to find a new sprog to voice the fish. That’s why, if you’ve seen it, he sounds a tad different to last time. But nevertheless, it worked and the film has been received dangerously well.
But you couldn’t just leave it at that. What about Gould? After his service to the brand, you couldn’t just let it lie like that, surely?!
Well… they didn’t.
Spoilers here, guys. Don’t say we didn’t warn you…
In the later stages of the film, Dory and her septapus friend, Hank, somehow hijack a truck carrying fish from the Marine Life Institute from two human adults. It doesn’t sound likely, granted, but you know… Pixar. Anyway, one of those adults, Carl, is voiced by 22-year-old Alexander Gould!
Amazing!
