“Chewbacca Mom” Has Made An Incredible Amount Of Money From That Video
Chances are, you’ve by now seen the world-famous video of Candace Payne - American mother of two - laughing in a Chewbacca mask.
Currently with 154 million views, the video went viral overnight, and made Candace into somewhat of a sensation.
She’s appeared on James Corden’s Late Late Show, taken a free trip to DisneyWorld and been given full college scholarships for her and all her family.
For a five minute video, that’s not bad…
Money magazine, Money, has totted up exactly how much Candace has received in gifts since her video has gone viral, and found that the total comes to $420,000.
That’s approximately £289,356.
This includes $3,000 worth of gifts from Kohl’s (where Candace bought the mask from), the $7,500 trip to Disneyworld and $400,000 worth of college scholarships from Southeastern University.
Peter Mayhew - the actor who played Chewbacca in the original films - treated Candace and her family to VIP tickets for the Fan Expo in Dallas (another $2,000), and then the flights, hotels and VIP tours that came with her various TV appearances were estimated to come to $7,500.
So there you have it. Almost half a million dollars.
