Cheeky 6-Year-Old Girl Tricks Her Mum Into Revealing Birthday Presents
In all honesty, I wish I was this clever when I was 6 years old. The extent of my attempts to find out what I was getting for my birthday was normally just looking in the cupboard where my mum always hides presents… (sorry mum!)
Little Emily Cairns was staying with her grandma while her mum and dad were enjoying a child-free evening out in Manchester, which of course was never going to last long.
Emily was pretty determined to find out exactly what she could expect to receive for the achievement of turning seven and spotted her opportunity when her grandmother left her phone out.
‘What did you get Emily for her birthday?’, she texted from 67-year-old Maureen Grundy’s phone.
And voila, her mother replied with a list of absolutely everything she had bought and wrapped for Emily’s birthday. Genius.
We don’t know whether to be impressed or worried for little Emily, this is far too evil for someone so young. I mean, I didn’t even know what texting was when I was 6 - I was too busy rummaging in cupboards.
Her mother said:
‘It was the ‘wow’ that gave her away. I thought, “Mum wouldn’t say that,” and I was suspicious.’
At first I did think it was my mum and she was asking what I’d got for Emily’s birthday so we didn’t get the same thing. I listed every single thing I’d bought her.If it hadn’t been for the ‘wow’ I would’ve been none the wiser.’
Emily’s grandmother was just as shocked at the cheekiness of the text – as she had no idea Emily was using the phone to text.
She said: ‘I thought she was playing games on my phone, I didn’t think anything of it. A while later I got a text from Amy asking me, ‘did you text me before?’ and I said no.
Her parents, who describe Emily as being a ‘very clever’ and ‘very mischievous’ child, are now keeping a closer eye on what their now-seven-year-old rascal might be getting up to. Which is probably a good thing as she seems set to be an evil mastermind, just sayin’.
