JK Rowling Set To Release Three New 'Harry Potter' Books

If you’re anything like me, you’re probably thinking ‘didn’t she say she wasn’t going to do anymore?’

And you’d be right, she did say that ‘we’re done’ with Harry Potter – but it turns out she meant the character, and not the franchise as a whole. She’s going to be dragging out the whole franchise for a whole lot longer, folks, so settle in for the ride.

The author will be adding three collections of short stories all about the wizarding world – but not about Harry – which are due to be released as e-books in September.

A statement about the release said:

‘The Pottermore Presents series will launch in September and is intended to supplement the Harry Potter book series with short-form content that is entertaining, creatively curated by the Pottermore staff and accessed easily on mobile platforms.’

It will include ‘titbits taken from Pottermore’s archives and original writing from J.K. Rowling’, so at least Rowling will actually be writing some parts of it this time!

Here’s the synopsis for each book:

“Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide dives into the nooks and crannies of the beloved wizarding school itself, unfurling everything from details about the Hogwarts ghosts, to what happens when the Sorting Hat can’t decide on a student’s house.

Short Stories from Hogwarts of Power, Political and Pesky Poltergeists explores the darker roots of the wizarding world. You’ll learn more about the troubles that faced the Ministry of Magic, the horrors of Azkaban prison and enjoy an entirely new original piece of writing by J.K. Rowling on Horace Slughorn.

Short Stories from Hogwarts of Heroism, Hardship and Dangerous Hobbies celebrates the colourful staff of Hogwarts. There’s more to discover about Care of Magical Creatures teacher Silvanus Kettleburn, as well as another new piece of writing from J.K. Rowling on Minerva McGonagall, and her involvement in the second wizarding war.”

They will be available from Pottermore, and from all of the big E-book retailers (Kindle, iBooks, Kobo etc).

It’s official, the world of Harry Potter is a gift that just keeps on giving… especially for JK Rowling’s bank account!
