Nickelodeon Are Bringing Back Two Childhood Classics With Fresh Twists
Nickelodeon have dropped a double bombshell by announcing the return of Legends of the Hidden Temple and Hey Arnold.
Back in the day, Legends of the Hidden Temple was a must-see Nickelodeon game show. It was kind of Indiana Jones themed, and kids between the age of 11 and 14 were tasked with making it into the temple.
There were cool team names, costumes, a Mayan set and prizes to be won – what more could you want? According to a 2007 poll in the Springfield State Journal-Register, ten percent of respondents said that Legends of the Hidden Temple was their “favorite ‘old school’ Nickelodeon show.
If you haven’t heard of it, remember Jungle Run? Legends of the Hidden Temple was the original kids-taking-on-cool-challenges type show and Jungle Run took the idea and ran with it… pun not intended.
Variety reports that Nickelodeon is kind of bringing it back in the form of a fictional movie, which follows three siblings who have to survive dangerous obstacles, and is expected to be out by the end of 2016. But Olmec, the awesome talking head from the show will be back, as will the Steps of Knowledge, and a green monkey, a red jaguar, and silver snakes.
And if those are around, the Shrine of the Silver Monkey basically has to show up at the end, right?
Nickelodeon are also bringing back the cast of ‘Hey Arnold!’ for a TV movie that picks up where the tv show left off in 2004. You know, the animated series about the kid with a head shaped like a rugby ball? he lived with his grandma and got up to all kinds of mischief. A date for it’s release has yet to be announced.
